THE TINY SUPERFOOD – CHIA SEEDS:
Chia is a great source of healthy omega-3 fats and fibre, and fortunately it’s an easy food to add to your diet.
It’s tasteless, or as my daughter says, it’s like eating sand but I like it! Not the best intro for this ‘tiny superfood’ that I am encouraging you to eat, but honestly give it a go, below are just some of the reasons why:
- OMEGA 3 FATTY ACIDS
- VITAMIN C
- BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS
It contains 20% Omega 3 ALA, making it a super food for the brain and heart. Chia has eight times more Omega 3 than salmon!
Chia contains seven times more vitamin C than oranges.
It has a positive impact balancing blood glucose levels (making it awesome for diabetics).
The protein is a complete protein with all 8 essential amino acids.
It is super high in dietary fibre, making it great for digestion and healing digestion issues. Be sure to drink plenty of water as chia is very high in fibre.
How do you eat it and how much should you eat?
You can eat it raw with almost any food, or sprinkle it into liquid and it will swell up to form a gel. Nutritionists recommend that one tablespoon of chia is consumed each day.
I will supply you with at least two teaspoons. It’s easy to order, you email the supplier, pay me and she will deliver your parcel to the class. For details and prices open this file:
